History

Banglabandha lies at the northernmost corner of Bangladesh, facing Phulbari in India’s West Bengal across the border. The zero point, where the road meets the international line, has become a destination in itself — the place to say you have reached the very top of the country.

It is also a working land port. Lorries carry trade to and from India, and goods from Nepal and Bhutan pass through on routes across the narrow strip of Indian territory between them. Travellers holding a valid passport and visa can also cross here through the immigration post — check current rules before planning a crossing.

Travel tips

  • This is an active international border: stay in the area open to visitors and never step past the zero line or signs.
  • Follow every instruction from the BGB and port officials; photography may be restricted near security posts — ask first.
  • Carry your national ID or passport.
  • Do not deal with anyone offering to take you or goods across informally.
  • Visiting hours at the zero point can be limited; check locally.
