History

At Harinmari stands what is often called the largest mango tree in Bangladesh, a Surjapuri tree believed to be around two hundred years old. Its huge lower branches have bent down to the ground and rooted again, so that the single tree now spreads like a small grove over a wide area.

The tree still fruits every summer and is cared for by the family on whose land it stands. It has become a favourite outing for people from across the north, especially in the mango season.
