History

Shakuni Lake is Madaripur town’s centrepiece: a broad, rectangular body of water dug long ago, around which much of the town’s official and civic life has grown.

Today it is where the town comes to breathe. In the morning people walk and exercise along its banks; in the evening families and friends gather by the water, and the stalls nearby do a steady trade in tea and snacks.
