Buying a bus ticket used to mean a trip to the counter, a queue, and hoping your preferred seat was still free. Booking online removes all three. This guide walks through the whole process on Bussheba, from search to e-ticket.

What you need before you start

  • The city you are leaving from and the city you are going to
  • Your travel date (and a return date, if you want a round trip)
  • The name of each passenger, as it should appear on the ticket
  • An email address and phone number for the ticket and trip updates
  • A way to pay online

Step 1: Search your route

Open the bus search, choose your departure city, your destination and your travel date, then select the number of passengers. You will see the buses that run on that date, with departure and arrival times and the fare for each.

Step 2: Compare the buses

Do not pick on price alone. For each bus, check:

  • Departure and arrival time — a night bus saves a day, a morning bus is easier with children
  • Bus type — AC or non-AC, and the seat layout
  • Boarding and dropping points — choose the stop closest to you
  • Fare rules — whether the ticket can be cancelled or moved to another date, and at what cost

Step 3: Choose your seats

Where the bus company offers seat selection, the seat plan shows which seats are free. Pick the ones you want. Your seats are held for a short time while you fill in the passenger details, so nobody else can take them mid-booking.

Step 4: Enter passenger details

Type each passenger's name carefully and add your contact email and phone number. The e-ticket is sent to that email, so check it for typos before you continue.

Step 5: Pay securely

Review the total. It includes the fare, taxes and fees, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. Pay online to confirm the booking. If you keep a balance in your Bussheba wallet, you can pay from that with your wallet PIN.

Step 6: Get your e-ticket

Once payment is confirmed, your ticket is issued and emailed to you. You can also open it any time under My Trips in your account. Show the ticket at boarding, on your phone or printed.

After you book

Plans change. From My Trips you can see the fare rules for your ticket and, where the rules allow it, cancel the booking or move it to another date. If something is unclear, the help centre and the FAQ cover the common questions.

Quick tips

  • Book early for weekends and public holidays, when popular departures sell out
  • Arrive at the boarding point at least 15 to 20 minutes before departure
  • Keep your phone charged, since your ticket is on it
